Foundation Phase (3-7)
There are seven areas of learning that form the Foundation Phase
curriculum. Emphasis has been placed on developing children’s
knowledge, skills and understanding through experiential learning,
- learning by doing and by solving real life problems both inside
and outdoors. The seven areas of learning are:
· Personal and Social Development and Well
Being
· Language, Literacy and Communication Skills
· Mathematical Development
· Bilingualism and Multi-cultural Understanding
· Knowledge and Understanding of the World
· Physical Development
· Creative Development.
The CAFE Project is well placed to assist schools to deliver key aspects of
the Foundation Phase through Farm Visits which take the chilkdren outdoors,
exploring first hand their local farms and meeting and having the opportunity
to question and converse with farmers.
